Learn how to make Karlyachi bhaji or Karela sabzi - a quick vegetarian Indian main course recipe from our chef Archana on Ruchkar Mejwani. <br /> <br />Ingredients: <br /> <br />250 gms Bitter Gourd (Karla) <br />1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds <br />1/4 Asafoetida (Hing) <br />1 Onion, chopped <br />1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder <br />1/2 tsp Sugar <br />3 tbsp Grated Coconut <br />1 tbsp Mix Masala <br />3 tbsp Oil <br />Coriander Leaves <br />Salt to taste <br />Water <br /> <br />Method: <br /> <br />- First apply salt to the chopped bitter gourd pieces and keep them aside for sometime. <br />- In a pan heat some oil. <br />- Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, onion, coriander leaves and turmeric powder. Saute everything well till the onions become soft. <br />- Squeeze out all the water from the chopped bitter gourd pieces and add it to the masala. Mix well. <br />- Add grated coconut, mix masala, sugar and salt. Mix everything well. <br />- Add little water and cover it with a lid to let everything cook for 10 minutes. <br />- Karlyachi Bhaji is ready to be served.
